December 21st – Shopping, Family, and More Cookies

I had a wonderful weekend full of Christmas shopping, family, and cookies.    I woke up early on Saturday and headed out to the stores to buy presents.   The stores were just about as packed as I’d expected.   It was pretty crazy.  I couldn’t turn a corner without running into a shopping cart.  Overall, I was done in under an hour and a half so it wasn’t too bad.   The best part is that I bought some really cool presents.  I spent the balance of the day hanging out with a friend and her family.  It was a great day.

On Sunday I picked up my friend’s son and we drove to Grants Pass.   We picked up my cousin Daniel, at my Grandma’s place, and we all went out for pizza and a movie.  Daniel and my friend’s son are about the same age and they got along really well.  We headed out with the intention of watching “Avatar” but ended up watching “Old Dogs” due to timing.   The movie was good and the kids had a great time.   Hanging out with the boys really made me think about my girls.  I miss hanging out with them.  I haven’t spoken with either of them since the last phone call I wrote about.   I have called, consistently, every couple of days since then but I get no answer on their, or their mom’s, phone.  It’s frustrating but I am confident it will blow over eventually and consistency is my best course of action right now.

While I was out watching movies, my friend was at a cookie party.  She had fun and brought back two plates of cookies.  Between those and the cookies at my Grandma’s we had a very cookie-full day.  I can’t wait to get to the gym after work today and burn off a cookie or two.  After my brutal leg work out on Friday, I was a little concerned that I would still be sore after the weekend but I feel really good today and can’t wait to get on the treadmill and put in some mileage.
