February 3rd – A Revelation
February 3, 2010
I left work, yesterday, feeling good and excited about my run that evening. When I arrived home, I quickly changed and headed for the gym. I started things out with some light stretching and a half mile warm up walk, to work out the lingering soreness from the day before. By the quarter mile point, I felt so good that it was hard to not start running before my half mile was up. The run, however, didn’t go as well as the warm-up. I was able to run a mile an a half before I totally ran out of gas and finished the balance of the three miles alternating between running and walking every quarter mile. Hopefully I will do better today.
I did make a startling revelation during yesterday’s run. The treadmills at my gym all have built-in television screens. At first, I wasn’t really into it because running to a TV show doesn’t really work for me. A few days ago, however, I found digital music in the higher channels. Yesterday, I found a channel that was one really good song after another. I rocked out my whole run and it wasn’t until the end that I noticed the name of the channel “retro rock”. I may be over reacting but isn’t “retro rock” just a small step away from “classic rock”? Does this mean that I’m getting old?
Before I close for the day, I want to give a quick update on my work situation. It’s been awesome. Things haven’t changed, at all, since my discussion with the boss. He hasn’t treated me any different and I appreciate it. I am truly fortunate to have such supportive family, friends, and coworkers. Thank You!

It’s very possible you have a point. But I still enjoy the word “retro”. It softens the blow… And makes me feel cooler…

First, greetings from snowy Germany. Second, yes, you are getting dangerously close to Classic Rock age — your AARP card is being prepared even as you read this.
Glad you found a way to make the workout more enjoyable. Keep up the great progress.
Love you.
